Ten Reasons I Love the Regency Era

Hello folks!

The countdown is on! Unless my math is off, Lady Seductress's Ball, releases with Carina Press in 55 days!!!!  (Release date = December 19, 2011)

I am totally psyched about it. Lady Seductress's Ball is a Regency-era erotic romance novella, which is why I've chosen to write the ten reasons I love the Regency era, and in no particular order!

  • Men in tight breeches
  • Mr. Darcy--need I say more?
  • Proper ladies behaving badly
  • Riding horses in the park
  • Giving mothers a fit of the vapors
  • Sex in carriages
  • Broad shoulders and well muscled chests filling out the velvet fabric of an evening jacket
  • Parties nearly nightly
  • Gorgeous homes
  • Undies not required...
Tell me, why do you love the Regency era?

Cheers,
Eliza

Lady Seductress's Ball  -- Releasing December 19, 2011

As the wife of the elderly Earl of March, Olivia Covington has never known the intimacies of the bedroom. Though her curiosity is piqued by the shocking whispers of society ladies, she is too wary of causing scandal to indulge in an affair. But Tristan Knightley, Earl of Newcastle, tempts her to throw off propriety.Tristan wants Olivia for his own, and has sworn off all others until he can rid himself of the obsession. He is sure once he has a taste, he will tire of her, and can return to his rakish existence. Unable to wait to have her in his bed, he invites her for a tryst at Lady Seductress’s Ball...

I must agree with all your reasons...except Mr. Darcy. I know I'm in the minority here, but I've just never been a fan. But I'll sub Mr. Knightly for my own list :)

If the Patronesses at Almack's gave me their permission, I could waltz away the night with my Duke. (Isn't it always a Duke???) A wallflower no longer, envy of all. But your Ten Reasons are all so true as well.

All of the above, Eliza! Good luck with the novella.

All of yours, plus the language, the clothes, the flirtations, the bazillion ways the nobility entertained themselves, the duels over a lady's honor. I could go on forever!

I love the sexual tension of a world in which the men went around in top-boots and tight breeches, but a gently-reared girl was supposed to wait until marriage before those boots were allowed under her bed.

@AvonLadyJerrica -- I think my gasp was audible from here! lol, just teasing. Mr. Knightley is lovely too.

@Veronica -- always a duke! And he would sweep you away to the most wondrous house, and your every dream will come true!

@Wendy -- Thank you :)

@Magda -- Oh, yes... If only time travel were real, and I could go back and forth whenever I wanted!

@Alyssa -- I LOVE that! As a mother of three girls, I wish that were still the standard for today!
